Baku City Tour

We will start by going to Baku’s Old City, which is situated in the city center.

There are 22 hectares in all.

Constructed in the 5th century, the old city is encircled by fortified walls and contains a number of buildings pertaining to Azerbaijan’s prehistoric past. When you enter this magnificent city, you will have a true sense of the past, and everything you see there is unique.

Heydar Aliyev Center

The Heydar Aliyev Center is a cultural center built on Heydar Aliyev Avenue in the capital of Azerbaijan, in the city of Baku. It is a complex structure that includes an auditorium (congress center), a museum, exhibition halls, and administrative offices. It bears the name of the third president of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev. the center project was developed in 2007 by the architect Zaha Hadid. Anar Alekperov is the director of the Heydar Aliyev Center. The Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center is considered one of the symbols of modern Baku. In 2014, it was recognized as the best building in the world – the 2014 Design of the Year award.

Ateshgah (Azerbaijan\ Atəşgah)

This ancient sanctuary, situated in the Absheron peninsula approximately 30 kilometers from Baku’s center, near the village of Surakhani in the Surakhani region, has been revered by Zoroastrians, Hindus, and Sikhs at different periods. Originating in the 17th to 18th centuries, it emerged atop natural gas vents, perpetually aflame, hence its name “Ateshgah,” meaning “House of Fire” or “Place of Fire.” The architectural layout comprises a hexagonal design with a fortified outer wall and a portal entrance leading to a central courtyard housing a quadrangular main temple—an altar that drew pilgrims devoted to fire worship. Adorning the entrance portal is a typical Absheron guest chamber (balakhana). Historical records trace the construction of this temple complex back to 1713.

Yanardag (Azerb. Yanar Dağ)

This ancient temple, known as the Temple of Fire, is located in the Absheron peninsula, about 30 kilometers from Baku. It has been revered by followers of Zoroastrianism, Hinduism, and Sikhism throughout history. Built in the 17th and 18th centuries, it sits atop natural gas vents, giving it perpetual flames and the name “Ateshgah,” meaning “House of Fire” or “Place of Fire.” The complex is hexagonal in shape, with a fortified outer wall and an entrance portal leading to a central courtyard with a quadrangular altar—a pilgrimage site for fire worshipers. Construction dates back to 1713.

Upland Park

Our final destination on the tour will be Upland Park, where you’ll ascend in the darkness. The park earns its name from its elevated position, offering stunning views from its observation decks. From here, you can admire nearby landmarks like the Flame Towers, Primorsky Boulevard, Baku Bay, the Palace of the Shirvanshahs, the historic quarter of Icheri Sheher, and the Maiden Tower. Situated at Baku’s highest point, the park complex provides a panoramic vista. Throughout the tour, there will be time for lunch and the opportunity to purchase souvenir gifts from local tourist spots.
